Description
English: Inside the arcade of the entrance pavilion of the Jacob Riis Park bathhouse, on Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Rockaway, Queens. Pictured is the 1932 plaque commemorating the construction of the bathhouse. The plaque has developed a patina over the years. The project was overseen by then-Queens Parks Commissioner Albert C. Benninger, who was inspired by Robert Moses' work at Jones Beach. Unfortunately, Moses upon taking over NYC Parks was not similarly impressed with Benninger's work.
