| Description |
English: Looking south from the Grand Central Parkway at the finished baseball and soccer field of Joseph Austin Playground, east of 164th Place in Jamaica, Queens. The field, reconstructed for the second time in a decade, appears to be completed but is still not open to the public. Pictured is what appears to be sand in the outfield warning track. Turf fields are usually filled or submerged with either rubber pellets made of recycled tire rubber, or with sand, in order to keep the turf down and help it drain. In this case, it appears to be sand. |
