Nyckelord: Rosa, Vaser
Description
Pair of porcelain wall vases decorated in overglaze enamels. Mark and period of Qianlong (1736-95)The vases are in the shape of bags with cords round their necks. The backs of the vases are flat, with a hole for suspension when used in a room or travelling in a sedan chair. The inside neck and back are enamelled turquoise. The front has a background pattern of dense, dark pink scrolls on a lighter pink ground, with a pair of five-clawed dragons confronting a central medallion containing the character for “long life”. Behind and beneath the dragons is a stylised lotus scroll, its central flower with upward-pointing stamen. Although not of the very first quality, the enamelling is done with care and precision. The style and content of decoration indicate porcelain produced during the early Qianlong reign, in the 1740s. The very finest wares of this type in the imperial collections in Taipei and Beijing have underglaze blue marks, while these vases have a reign mark in overglaze red enamel.
