English: LNE B1 4-6-0 at Pelham Street crossing, Lincoln. View NW in 1947, just east of Lincoln Central station (visible in the left background), at the infamous Pelham Street level-crossing where a main street crossed a very busy railway causing traffic congestion for over 100 years until a flyover road was built in 1961. To the right, trains ran in four directions: northward, ex-GC line to Barnetby, Immingham etc.; eastward, ex-GN to Boston etc.; southeast, ex-GN&GE Joint to Sleaford, Spalding and March; south, ex-GN to Grantham. The locomotive, Thompson B1 No. 1077 was built in 9/46 and lasted until 5/62. |
