English: 3D-representation of a cell nucleus from a human testis during Spermatogenesis, more precisely during Zygotene, a stage during prophase of meiose I. Two chromosomes 3 were labeled with fluorescence in situ hybridization. Short arms (blue) are already paired, the long arms (red) not yet. In addition telomeres are labeled inversely. Autofluorescence in green.
The image is 10 µm wide. Projections of confocal images from a testis section which contained a seminoma and normal tubuli. The image is from the normal area. Microscopic recordings were made during this study: R.Eils, E. Trelles-Sticken, S. Dietzel, T. Cremer, H. Walt, and A. Jauch. 1998. Aspects of three-dimensional chromosome reorganization during the onset of human male meiotic prophase. J. Cell Sci. 111:2337-2351. PMID 9683629 Images shown here were made from the raw date independently of this study, however.Deutsch: 3D-Darstellung eines Zellkerns aus einem menschlichen Hoden im Zygotän. Mit Fluoreszenz-in-Situ-Hybridisierung wurden die beiden Arme des Chromosoms 3 sowie die Chromosomenenden (Telomere) abwechselnd in rot und blau markiert. Die Paarung hat am kurzen Arm (blau) bereits begonnen, am langen noch nicht. Die Autofluoreszenz in grün lässt erkennen, dass sich die Telomere alle an der Kernoberfläche befinden.
Kantenlänge des Bildes: 10 µm. Projektionen von konfokalen optischen Schnitten von einem Testisschnitt, der ein Seminom und normale Tubuli enthielt. Die Aufnahme stammt aus dem normalen Bereich.
