Vue de la Grand'place de la Ville aux abords du beffroi : Les spectateurs sont réunis autour d'une scène où un musicien joue du violon tandis qu'un chanteur de rue pointe avec un bâton une rouleau de toile suspendue où sont attachées des images. À l'arrière du cercle des spectateurs, soit à droite du tableau, un homme avec une brouette semble assister de loin à la représentation. À gauche un homme charge des paniers sur un âne. - Sur la place, un café avec terrasse ajoute une 'scène de rue' au décor. On aperçoit le clocher de l'église Saint Martin, tandis que le théâtre de la ville est vaguement caché par le fond de scène de la tribune.
