| Description |
English:  Italy, Tuscany, Massa, St. Francis Cathedral. The Ducal Chapel or “Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament” was built by the will of Dukes Alberico II and Carlo II between 1687 and 1694 in late Roman Baroque. It was designed by Domenico Martinelli. The Chapel is dedicated to the “Nativity of Mary”, the altar was built with polychrome marble and above it is the painting “Madonna with Child” by Pinturicchio of 1490 – 1492. The altar is enriched with angels among alabaster clouds. Besides on the right side is a painting depicting San Filippo Neri while praying by Carlo Maratta. |
