  • Significance: Maud Noble, a maiden lady from Philadelphia, PA, came to Jackson Hole as a guest at a dude ranch. She remained in this area and had a cabin built for her by Harry Clisswold on the east side of Cottonwood Creek in 1916. In 1918 Miss Noble purchased Menor's ferry operation and buildings and had her cabin moved, piece by piece and reassembled, to its present location on the Bill Menor homestead adjacent to the Snake River. The cabin originally has three rooms: a kitchen, living room, and bedroom. After being moved these rooms were used as two bedrooms and a living room. Cooking was done in the Bill Menor Cabin. Miss Noble lived here until 1927 or 1928. Miss Noble lent the building for an important meeting that led to the creation of the Grand Teton National Park. This historic meeting took place on the evening of July 26, 1923. Various occupants have renovated and modernized the structure.
