Description
English: Locations of McDonalds with original founding of restaurants listed on List of countries with McDonald's franchises. Shows date of first McDonalds that opened in each continent in small inset map at bottom. Countries where McDonalds were formerly located are shown in dark grey (Barbados, Bolivia, Iceland, Iran, Jamaica, Montenegro and Macedonia). This image is not entirely correct and needs updating. Tasmania (of Australia) did not have a McDonald's store until much later than the rest of Australia. (Despite the fact that Tasmania is as much a part of Australia as Alaska is a part of the United States.) Bermuda is coloured dark grey, but it has never had a McDonalds restaurant, although a chain of them was once proposed and sought, but resulted in the Prohibited Restaurants Act 1997, effectively banning franchise restaurants from Bermuda (Kentucky Fried Chicken was grandfathered). Last update: Bosnia and Herzegovina (2009), Trindad and Tobago (reopened in 2013) and Vietnam (2014).
