Français : Le Paresseux terrestre, ou paresseux géant d'Amérique du Nord (autrefois nommé Megalonyx ou Mégathère de Jefferson), dont le nom scientifique est Megalonyx jeffersonii est une espèce éteinte qui a vécu en Amérique du Nord lors du Pléistocène. Les anglophones le nomment « giant ground sloth » ou « Jefferson's ground sloth ». Selon les squelettes découverts aux USA, certains individus dépassaient 2 m de hauteur.
日本語: 学名 Megalonyx jeffersonii とは更新世に北アメリカに生息した巨大なナマケモノ（旧称：Megalonyx、Megathèrede Jefferson）で絶滅種。英名は「ジャイアント・グラウンド・スロース」または「ジェファーソンのグラウンド・スロースナマケモノ」。発見された骨格から推定身長は2m超という説もある。1799年にアメリカ大統領が学術協会に寄付したとされる発掘品の模写。 |
