Summary edit

Description
English: Preserved Merseybus bus 2122 (reg. CUL 122V), a 1979 Leyland Titan (B15), pictured at the 2009 Cobham bus rally at Wisley Airfield.

The 152nd production Titan, it's from the early batch built by the British Leyland subsidiary Park Royal Vehicles in Park Royal, London (later ones were built at Leyland's expanded factory in the Lillyhall Industrial Estate, Workington). As with the vast majority of production, it was delivered new to London Transport as part of the dual-door T-class, allocated fleet number T122.

It saw service in London until 1994, latterly in the post-deregulation/pre-privatisation East London arms length London Buses division.

Instead of being privatised into a London company however, T122 was one of 250 Titans sold by London Transport to Merseybus (MTL Trust Holdings) between 1992 and 1994. Merseybus was the newly privatised former PTA operator covering the north west England conurbation of Merseyside. It entered their Titan refurbishment line at Edge Lane works, where it emerged in their red & cream livery, minus its centre door. Numbered 2122 it was allocated to Gilmore depot.

It was inherited by Arriva North West when Arriva bought MTL in 2000, although the dominant position that created meant that T122 was divested by Arriva into the new company GTL (Glenvale Transport Limited), formed in July 2001 out of the Gilmore depot operations.

Shortly before GTL's demise, in 2004 T122 was sold to a breakers intended to be scrapped, but was instead bought by West Kent Buses. WKB was a small post-privatisation operator based in West Kingsdown, specialising in school contracts and operating a few Titans in a mauve and cream livery, although T122 never entered service and was again due to be scrapped.

It was however purchased for preservation in March 2006, the first ex-MTL to be preserved. It has since been restored to its Merseybus condition, as seen here.
