| Description |
English: Minehead station, 1991. View westward, towards the buffer-stops: ex-GWR terminus of the line from Bishops Lydeard, Norton Fitzwarren and Taunton. This was closed 4/1/71, but reopened by the West Somerset Railway Company in 1976, in stages from Minehead back to Bishops Lydeard and now to a new station at Norton Fitzwarren. It has become the longest and one of the most successful Preserved Railways in Britain. In this 1991 view, the ex-S&DJR 2-8-0 No. 53808 is seen on the right |
