Nocturnal Relaxed Host Mussel.

Demonstration of the nocturnally relaxed state of the valves of the green-lipped mussel, Perna canaliculus, by stroking the sensitive mantle of the mussel with metal tweezers, which if conducted during daytime would cause immediate closure of the valves.

Recorded in darkness using infrared lighting.
