Description
Svenska: Skata sittande tryckt mot marken med stjärten snett uppåtriktad,. Målad i naturliga färger under glasyren. På fotplatta av oregelbunden form. Färgerna under glasyren. Modellen utförd till Världsutställningen i Paris 1900. Waldemar Lindström (1875-1950) Industrikonstnär jär och förste verkmästare vid Rörstrands Porslinsfabrik. Genomgick Tekniska skolan i Stockholm 1891-97 och anställdes därefter vid Rörstrand. Han modellerade djur och fåglar i jugendstil på danskt manér. Signerade ibland med initialerna W.L. eller bara W utan årsangivelse. Förekommer siffran 232 = hans namn. Skatan ansluter nära till Köpenhamnsfabrikernas produktion av underglasyrmåleri och skulpturala verk. Vid Bing & Gröndahl gjorde Carl Mortensen en liknande figurin 1907, kanske med inspiration av Waldemar Lundströms skata. Waldemar Lindström gjorde senare en serie av djurfigurer, målade i naturnära färger, totalt mer än 160 modeller, rävar, harar, katter, hundar, fåglar ur den svenskan faunan, men också mer exotiska djur. Den tillverkningen upphörde 1926. I Hallwylska porslinssamlingen representerar Skatan Rörstrandfabrikens framgång på Världsutställningen 1900, då fabriken och den svenska porslinstillverkningen stod på höjden av sin glans. Fabrikens privilegium utfärdades 1729, dess verksamhet synes dock ha börjat redan 1726. Intill 1860-talet tillverkades endast fajans av olika slag, från 1857 även benäkta porslin samt från 1881 fältspatäkta porslin. Fabriken flyttades 1926 till Göteborg.
