Porslinspaddor gjorda i Kina under Qingdynastin (1644-1912)
Nyckelord: Kinesiskt porslin, Djur, Qingdynastin, Föremålsbild, Vita, Figurer, keramik, padda
Description
Frogs. Two porcelain frogs, partially unglazed and with underglaze iron brown details. Qing dynasty, 19th- early 20th centuryFrogs are associated with fertility and abundance because they lay enormous quantities of eggs. They are yin creatures, associated with the female principle. Because Chinese people do not always differentiate between frogs and toads, they can also be linked to good luck, immortality, money, healing, the moon and frivolity, all qualities belonging to toads. The frogs were bought in 1905 at Bukowskis, which gives a useful dating bracket for their manufacture.
