English: Double-headed Paddington - Penzance express stopping at Reading General. Except over the South Devon banks, it was unusual for a 'King' to require assistance, but on this peak Summer Saturday the load on the 15.30 Paddington - Penzance was so great that No. 6021 'King Richard II' (built 6/30, withdrawn 9/62) has Collett 'Hall' 4-6-0 No. 4985 'Allesley Hall' (built 1/31, withdrawn 7/62) as 'pilot' - placed inside the train engine according to GWR practise. [Apologies for the poor photographic quality]. |
