A biography of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. The work also includes biographical sketches of James Lawrence, William Bainbridge, Steven Decatur, Thomas Macdonough, David Porter, Zebulon Pike, and William Henry Harrison. A "View of the Rise, Present Condition, and Future Prospects of the Navy of the United States" concludes the work, along with a register of naval officers. An engraved portrait of Perry decorates the frontispiece, and there are two engraved views of the Battle of Lake Erie. 384pp.
