Summary edit
DescriptionSatellite tagging pilot whales in Vágur.JPG |
Føroyskt: Sendarar vórðu settir á grindahvalir í Vági hin 2. oktober 2012. Tað vóru fólk frá Náttúrugripasavninum (Søvn Landsins), ið komu suður fyri at merkja hvalirnir, ið síðan vóru riknir út aftur. Endamálið er at kunna fylgja við í hvussu langt ið teir ferðast og hvagar teir ferðast. English: Satellite tagging of pilot whales in the bay of Vágur in the island Suðuroy in the Faroe Islands. The men who tag the whales came from the Faroese National Heritage, the Náttúrugripasavnið, Søvn Landsins. In the beginning three local boys were helping the scientists to hold the whales. The purpose is for scientists to be able to follow the migration of the whales in order to get a better picture of where they travel, how far they travel and so on. The whales were driven out on open sea after the tagging. Pilot whales which have been tagged must not be killed. |
