Description
Deutsch: Schiffziehen auf der Donau (im Hintergrund), von Joseph II. als Ersatz für die Todesstrafe gedacht und von 1784 bis 1790 eingesetzt.
Im Vordergrund Strassenkehren und Prügelstrafe.
Der Kupferstich wurde in dem Band als Vorsatzblatt publiziert, der die neue Strafrechtsordnung enthielt. Dazu wurde, um den Abschreckungsgrad des Schiffziehens an den der Todesstrafe anzugleichen, eine besonders abschreckende Schilderung der Ersatzstrafe mit statistischem Material über die schlechten Überlebenschangen beigefügt.
