Notes
  • Significance: It was designed by William Quayle, was built in 1894 and served as a school until 1959. The building stood empty until 1961 when, through the efforts of the citizens of the town, it was reopened as the Silver Plume Historical Museum and renamed the George Rowe Museum in 1970. Quayle's extensive use of glass, symmetry, and strong rounded arches are indicative of the Romanesque style of architecture popular in the late 1880s. The building was meant to be viewed from the front as evidenced by the lack of ornamentation on the side and rear facades.
  • Survey number: HABS CO-23
  • Building/structure dates: 1894 Initial Construction
