Summary edit

Description
English: South Shields: end of the line by the River Tyne, 1953.
The view is westwards across the river to the docks at North Shields, at the end of the electrified line via Pelaw which continued [for some unknown reason?] some distance beyond South Shields station, the terminus of the line from Newcastle. In the foreground is one of the older (ex-NER 1920) EMUs.
