| Description |
English: South West Trains 444013, a British Rail Class 444 Desiro train, at Southampton Central railway station, taken from the external footbridge over the railway. The photo was taken during the Southampton Civic Centre Tunnel engineering works, which were in progress behind where this photo was taken. While there are no immediate things to show engineering works were taking place, the station is quieter than usual (as some longer-distance train services had been diverted away), and trains serving the station terminated here (you can see the trains display here is showing "Soton Ctl", and is on a platform where it wouldn't usually be). The engineering works took place over the period of December 2009 to January 2010. Evening and weekend closures occurred first, and then the tunnel was completely closed over the Christmas period. |
