| Description |
English: Swansea High Street Station, with a 'Castle' and a 'Grange' 4-6-0. View northwards, towards everywhere- the routes east and west terminate here; terminus of ex-GWR South Wales main line. The line towards Neath, Cardiff etc. separates about one mile out at Hafod Junction. 'Grange' 4-6-0 No. 6818 'Hardwick Grange' (built 12/36, withdrawn 4/64) had brought in the 11.10 from Milford Haven, which was to continue to Paddington as the Up 'Capitals United Express'. 'Castle' 4-6-0 No. 5087 'Tintern Abbey' (rebuilt 11/40 from 'Star' No. 4067 of 1/23, withdrawn 8/63) had brought the corresponding Down train from Paddington, leaving at 08.55. |
