Description
English: Two Views of an English Brigantine

A portrait of a 17th century English brigantine broadside-on, before the wind, with a second view of her beyond, on the right, close hauled on the port tack and in port-quarter view. She is probably flying the pennant of the East India Company, and in the broadside view the deck is crowded with sailors carrying out a variety of tasks. The painting has been signed by the artist and dated '1725'. (Framed)
