  • Significance: The house was built by whaling Captain Edward Penniman in 1867-1868, who had shipbuilders from Wellfleet do the work. It has remained in the family, is in very good condition and is within the Cape Cod National Seashore. / The Captain Edward Penniman House, 1867-68, is a prime example of Cape Cod domestic architecture of its time, reflecting the influence of the French Second Empire style. It was the home of a whaling captain and is essentially unaltered. Building No. 35-77 in Cape Cod National Seashore.
