  • Significance: The U.S. Plant Introduction Station at Glenn Dale was one of four federal stations established to receive plant materials into the United States, test them for sustainability for more extensive trial, and, if suitable, increase and distribute the plants. Glenn Dale was distinct for the role that it evolved as the center of the USDA's plant quarantine activities.
