Title
Various memorabilia of Lt. Albert Augustan Healy of Royal Munster Fusiliers, item 2
Description
English: Albert Augustan Healy was born in Grattan Hill, Cork City, in August 1896. His family were "Redmondites" and he most likely enlisted in 1914.

He was in the Royal Munster Fusiliers. Included here is the buckle of a belt with the insignia of the Fusiliers, and a silver cigarette case, inscribed with his name and "RMF". His wrist tag, which had his name and religion inscribed is also included. I think that he had a photograph of his mother in the back of the tag.

He was involved in the Battle of St. Loos and was also in the Dardenelles. I think that he was also involved at Ypres. Included amongst the items here is a ring made from the lead of a spent bullet, inscribed with "Loos".

At some point during the war he was sent back to Cork to convalese, after suffering the effects of gassing. I have included a photograph of him, which looks to have been taken early in the war c. 1914/1915 and this three medals.

He must have stationed at a POW camp until 1919-1920. One of the items we have is a shell cover which has been inscribed "Lt. A. A. Healy Royal Munster Fusiliers" and has a design etched on it. The story in the family is that a German prisoner of war inscribed the shell. We think he was involved in the administration of repatriating the German soldiers.

It is not known where the grenade came from, but we think it must have come back from the war with him.

After the war, he joined the Irish Free State army and later worked in the civil service.
