Nederlands: Tree of Life by Eli Content
Middle frame of a set of three leaded glass windows by the artist Eli Content. This framework is made of matt clear glass with 12 large glass spheres in different shades of green. Around the 12 balls are smaller squares and ovals in various green and small red spheres. Eli Content's thumb print can be seen at the bottom centre. The Tree of Life, or Etz haChayim (עץ החיים) in Hebrew, is a mystical symbol used in the Kabbalah of esoteric Judaism to describe the path to HaShem and the manner in which He created the world ex nihilo (out of nothing). Kabbalists believe the Tree of Life to be a diagrammatic representation of the process by which the Universe came into being. |
