English: Warrington Bank Quay Station, with train. View northward, with the 16.30 Manchester (Exchange) - Llandudno express entering, double-headed by Stanier Class 5 4-6-0s Nos. 44802 and 45441. The station is on the ex-London & North Western London - Crewe - Carlisle West Coast Main Line, which also handled the important Manchester - Chester - North Wales traffic, which having turned south off the Liverpool & Manchester Railway at Earlestown joined the WCML a few miles north of Warrington and after crossing the River Mersey diverged from the WCML westward to reach Chester on the Birkenhead Joint Line (joint with the Great Western Railway) |
