English: Up 'Norseman' entering York. View northward from the north end of York Station, centre of the NE Area/Region and major junction. The line over the Scarborough Bridge to Scarborough, Hull etc. branches sharp right here and the tracks crossing under the engine are the Up Scarborough lines; behind the train is Waterworks Box, controlling this end of the Station. 'The Norseman' is the 09.45 Newcastle - King's Cross, with through coaches from Tyne Commission Quay conveying passengers off shipping services from Scandinavia. The locomotive is Gresley A3 4-6-2 No. 60039 'Sandwich' (built 9/34 as No. 2504, withdrawn 3/63). |
