Could someone make a set of   (vÜSTBl)-like icons but rotate those so main rails go from corner to corner please? Maybe based on   (vÜSTl3+1) but with thinner lines in between. Thanx. Fessor (talk) 19:45, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

@Fessor: Do you mean something like   (vÜSTBl3+1)? Useddenim (talk) 04:27, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
Amazing! It's exactly what I meant. Please add the other directions. --Fessor (talk) 06:32, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
@Fessor: I think   (vÜSTBr3+1) is a better match to the other icons in Category:Icons for railway descriptions/parallel lines/track change/double. Useddenim (talk) 12:32, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
Yep, it is better. Looks very neat. --Fessor (talk) 12:40, 28 August 2022 (UTC)

Image not updating

Hi, I updated   (uextdKRZtu) to fix the track spacing and gap, but it seems like the thumbnails are not being updated. Does anyone knows how to fix this?  - oahiyeel talk 08:49, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

It looks good now. Often it’s just a matter of purging the page’s cache. While you’re at it, b.t.w., can you fix also   (extdKRZtu) and   (tdKRZtu), please? -- Tuválkin 03:09, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

pHST jade

Hi, I have found ways to work around all but one of my Routemap complications and I’m almost ready to release it for public view on a Wikipedia page. Could you please make a bypassed jade station? That's the only missing piece I need. Thank you! (I think I wrote the following map correctly but I do not have a preview)

KRW+r blue

Hi, I have found a few more changes in my map that can help make it better, and was wondering if the following missing icons could please be made.

KRW colors

I noticed   (KRW+l blue),   (KRWl lavender), and   (KRW+r lavender) were also missing, but I do not expect these to have a role in my project. Thank you! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 03:07, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

I know I sent a request less than five minutes ago, but after doing another test, I noticed that   (KRWl pink) and   (KRW+r pink) are also missing, but +l and r exist. Could these two please be done too? Sorry for not including it originally, and thanks! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 03:12, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

Sorry, I forgot the existing icons.

@Vanisaac: That's what I was wondering. ThylacineHunter   (hSKRZ-Bhr) is the icon that you actually wanted. Useddenim (talk) 11:59, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

Sorry, I got the name wrong. I was originally enquiring about the missing masks on BSicon/Catalogue/others2#Masks. @Useddenim, I looked through the BSicon catalogue for that one and couldn't find it. -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 19:58, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Saffron and violet shifts

Hi, I was wondering if someone could please make icons for a saffron line splitting to the left and a violet line splitting to the right. Here are the icons.

Saffron and violet shifts

I have already used the existing   (SHI1+l violet) and   (SHI1+r saffron) in another portion of the map. I have not checked for saffron "l" pieces or violet "r" pieces as they will not be necessary for this project. Thank you! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 17:02, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

Tunnel versions

Hi, can someone create the tunnel versions of   (uv-SHI2½r) and   (uvSHI2½l-) please? I'm specifically looking for   (utv-SHI2½r),   (utvSHI2½l-),   (uextv-SHI2½r) and   (uextvSHI2½l-). Thanks! 111.65.46.240 15:42, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

Rail-rail at grade crossing, multicolored

Are there any crossings for one line crossing another, switching places on the line map? I’m specifically looking for:

  • ochre+yellow
  • yellow+lavender
  • ochre+lavender

without bridges or switches. My project (incomplete as of now) can be seen on my user page. Thank you! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 18:35, 28 October 2022 (UTC)

Those are perfect! Thank you! Sorry for not giving you existing icons the first time. This type of editing is well above my skill set so I was struggling. The only other things I need are "pHST jade" and "pHST lavender" (bypassed stations) which I can confirm do not currently exist. The rest of my project is complete enough to more or less understand. Missing letter/numbers icons

On page BSicon/Catalogue/others2#Summary there are a lot of missing icons. I'm in particular after "A" & "B" for use on Southern Cross railway station as the platforms are numbered 1, 2A-8A, 2B-8B, 8S, 9-14, 15A-16A, 15B-16B (see Southern Cross-Station Map) -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 02:23, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

I got snowed in today, so I'll tackle the numbers as well. VanIsaac (en.wiki) 18:27, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
  • I've been going wild on these since I've been stuck at home with a very mild case of Covid. I'm just wondering if there are use cases for just having the full alphabet available, and whether there are any accented characters that should be included as well - I'm thinking of possibly German "Ü" for upper-level platforms, or something like that. New icon

Hello, i'm a beginig wiki editor. I've created and uploaded two files I wish could become BSicons (created them during working on some routemap). As I sed I'm a beginer and I'm looking for your review and maby making thse files BSicons (functional, possible to use in routemap templates; I do not know how it is done, I'm not good in computer science). I would be greatful for any feedback!
The files:

  •   (dBL3+1)
  •   (dBL2+4)

Antoni12345 (talk) 14:10, 12 March 2023 (UTC)

@Antoni12345: Thank you for your efforts. I have a few comments:
  • The convention for BSicon files is to license them as {{PD-shape}} as they are generally extremely simple;
  • d BSicons are half-width (250 pixels wide × 500 pixels tall);
  • Inkscape creates extremely bloated svg code: using a text editor will produce valid files a fraction of the size;
  • I have changed their category from the general Category:BSicon/railway to Category:BSicon/experimental. Ultimately they should be in Category:Icons for railway descriptions/walkway or a subcat, but the naming issue should be resolved first (see   (dBL3+1-)   (d-BL3+1)   (dBL2+4-) &   (d-BL2+4) for the correct diagonal BL icons)
Useddenim (talk) 02:46, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

@Tuvalkin:

Oh, I have nothing to say, other than a generic welcome to Antoni12345 and agreement with the points raised by Useddenim above. -- Tuválkin 09:38, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

I forgot to add, there mere fact of naming a file using the BSicon conventions and placing it in the appropriate category(s) makes it "functional"; if you could add it to the correct BSicon/Catalogue page that would be even better. Useddenim (talk) 03:04, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for feedback. I've changed licensing as it's the only one thing I've managed to do. About the naming, after reading naming convention on BSicon/Catalogue I'm not shure how I am supposed to name it. Please if you can give me direct instructions. As for the SVG coding, I'm not familiar with it and I am not able to take up on learning it at the moment. I can take up proper categorising (Category:Icons for railway descriptions/walkway as you mentioned) and adding it to the catalogue, but as I understood it can be only done after oyher ishues are fixed. Antoni12345 (talk) 13:15, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
You've actually created a bit of a conundrum, as the issue of how to name a half-width image on a full-width icon has never been addressed. These icons give the same result:        (lv-INT@FlvINT@G-tvSTRqMASKll+rrBL2+4) . Useddenim (talk) 20:28, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
As I see it, this is not a conundrum: a d-wide icon recanvased into a _-wide frame is not something that we should really be “in the market” for, as icons are primarily meant to connect with each other.
But, if really needed, of course we can take up your own suggestion above (excellent {{BS-o}} work, by the way!) and name this MASKll+rr+BL2+4, the ad hoc naming system for BS-icons otherwise unnamable but still composable.

@ThylacineHunter: Now that I've explored some of this set, I think all of the ldNUL BSIcons were renamed last month.   (STRuq cerulean)
(tSTR+le orange)   (KRZl+4o orange)   (KRZul orange)   (KRZr+1o orange)   (CONTf@Fq orange)   (CONTg@Gq orange)   (CONTl+3 orange)   (ABZ1+2f orange)   (KBHFxe-R orange) Thank you in advance. Oldhamtw (talk) 14:12, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

@Oldhamtw: It's not really that difficult.
  1. Save an existing icon to your computer. (For example   (CONTf@Fq)
  2. Open it with a text editor (e.g. Windows Notepad on a PC or TextEdit on a Mac)
  3. Look for the text string stroke="#be2d2c" (or stroke="#003399" if you're using a u icon)
  4. Replace be2d2c with the hex value of the color you want from {{BS-color}}
  5. Save the modified file with the appropriate colour suffix appended to the name
  6. Upload the new file

@Vanisaac thanks for all the great work you've done with these icons. HoHo3143 (talk) 10:01, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
@Useddenim: I kind of did these down and dirty by just applying some transforms to the code from   (tkSTR3+la). What are your feelings on leaving it at that vs. going in and creating direct path definitions? The problem I run into is when I'm working with SVG arc commands, I get turned around a lot and can't figure out how to rotate the center of the arc to the right position. It's why whenever you see my new code for BSicon geometry, it always uses cubic bézier splines - my history with font creation makes these incredibly intuitive to me. VanIsaac (en.wiki) 18:49, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
@Vanisaac: I prefer plain paths rather than using transformations: it makes it easier to create derivative icons down the road. Mirroring is easy (just subtract values from 500); rotations also require swapping x & y values. Also, personally I'm comfortable with Bézier curves, but the decision was made that—except for SHIfts and non-navigable waterways—rail icons should use geometric arcs and ellipses wherever possible. Diagonal elevated road corners

Hi, I was wondering if elevated corners exist for diagonal road icons. I found icons like   (RP4c1) but not "  (hRP4c1)" or anything similar. But on the other hand, both   (RP42+4) and   (hRP42+4) exist. I tried replicating elevated corners with various railway icons but could not get anything to fit. Okay, I was not understanding properly, sorry about that. My opinion about this kind of issues is that there should not be any (or almost any) allowance for deficient visibility at 20px high that compromises the wider BSicon conventions — no bigger wye holes, no tortured geometries, and surely no 50px wide “half” tracks.

If visibility is needed, then BSicon users should either create special diagrams with bigger icons (that’s what the "s" in "svg" means — scalable) or keep the usual 20px high size but use more cells of the diagram to illustrate the sough layout — in the case at hand this could be done in a 1+½ width:   .

And that’s my opinion. -- Tuválkin 23:56, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

That could work, just need   (vABZgl+xl-) not   (vABZgxl+l-). -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 02:49, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
I am completely on board with staying with conventions. The problem is that there are actually competing conventions here. The use of 60px diverging lines is a minor BSicon convention that is used everywhere you have this type of through and tee in parallel lines. You can see it in   (umvSTR-ABZgl+l),   (vABZgl+l), and   (uvKRZlr+lr) to name a few I found just perusing the category tree. I don't support unilaterally upending that convention without a proper conversation with all interested parties, especially those who use those BSicons to indicate specific track geometries in articles like en:Nilambur–Shoranur line. VanIsaac (en.wiki) 04:15, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
I am not saying that this «minor convention» should be upended, just that I personally do not implement it in diagrams created by me, as a BSicon user, and wont work on icons dipicting it, as a BSicon creator. -- Tuválkin 02:01, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

S-Bahn / Substation

We could use these two icons   (ldSHST) and   (exldSHST). These   (lSHST) icons are used extensively to represent electric substations on the French Wikipedia (the Paris-Marseille line uses no less than 87 icons from the lSHST family).

  2. "Please" and "thank you" receive a much more favorable response. Useddenim (talk) 13:02, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your editing

Can you create a combination of this file   (uexmKRZ) with this file over it   (exSTRr)? That would probably get the name uexmKRZxr. I would love to have this.--Felixschiffler (talk) 14:54, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

@Felixschiffler: It looks like you already created   (uexmKRZxr). Useddenim (talk) 13:07, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

Curved railway cutting

Hello, I would like to have   (CSTR) 45 degree curved icons, diagonal icons and corner icons. Currently, only 90 degree curves are made (  (CSTR+r)). At the moment, please create   (CSTR+4),   (CSTRc1) and   (CSTR2+4). I am able to create all other rotated and ex versions myself. Thanks! Purin128AL (talk) 06:57, 21 July 2023 (UTC)

Interlocking piece

Hello, I was wondering if the "x" variation of   (KRZ2+4l+r) could please be created (  (xKRZ2+4l+r),contrasting   (eKRZ2+4l+r), so that the diagonal line and curves are still in use, but the straight line is not.) I tried to create it myself with a text editor by modifying the "e" variation, but my result was a repulsive mess and my text-editing skills are clearly limited to recoloring existing icons (proof). Thank you for your assistance! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 06:12, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

I can't find   (mvABZgr-STR) rotated 180-degrees (not sure what the name would be), it should look like   (mvSTR-ABZg+l) with the colours swapped. -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 06:34, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Also can't seem to find   (mvSTR-ABZg+ro) with the colours swapped (names for these mixed things are a little confusing). -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 07:53, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
  (mvABZr+r-STR) also flipped 180 and combine it with   (v-STR). -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 11:53, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
You can flip horizontally or vertically or rotate 180° – I'm not sure what you want to do with this one. Useddenim (talk) 12:46, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
And another colour swap   (mvSTR-ABZgl). -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 13:49, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
@ThylacineHunter: Many of the mixed parallel icons can be created with two half-width icons. Useddenim (talk) 12:46, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
In Victoria, Australia most parallel sections are blue on left and red on right. I noticed almost all of the mixed ones that existed are only red on left and blue on right. I was hoping this could be updated. These are exactly what I was after (  (umvSTR-ABZg+l),   (umvSTR-ABZgl),   (umvSTR-ABZgl+l),   (umvSTR-ABZg+ro)), thank you so much. -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 00:10, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
@Useddenim, I didn't realise I also needed one like   (umvSTR-ABZg+ro) with the bridge rotated like in   (mvSTRo-eABZg+r). I think I now understand the naming, would be   (umvSTRo-ABZg+r)? Although if it's possible, could the red junction to the left be also diagonally upwards? -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 01:19, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

mv and umv

Concerning the color swaps mentioned above, it should be simple. Please compare

  •   (mvSTR) and
  •   (umvSTR)

So, in theory, if you want to swap colors in something that’s named mv, its name should be added an u.

Of course the refers to the main bahn red color and the dark blue u color. Other single letter colors use the same system when swapping with bahn red, but it gets more complicated when dealing with pairs of single letter colors, and more so when dealing with named colors. But it works.

Diagonal vRP2 roads

I'd like to request a diagonal version of   (vRP2) as well as its corners and 45-degree curves (e.g.   (vRP23+1),   (vRP2c1), and   (vRP2s+1)) AlphaBeta135talk 14:33, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

Are there any existing vRP2 icons so that the geometry can be matched correctly? VanIsaac (en.wiki) 19:19, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
There's not a 45-degree diagonal version for   (vRP2),   (vRP2BHF),   (vRP2HST). According to BSicon/Catalogue/generic roads, there are horizontal   (vRP2q) and vertical   (vRP2) vRP2 icons, that's all. AlphaBeta135talk 22:19, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
(vRP23+1) and   (vRP2c4) done. I'm going to bed now. Useddenim (talk) 03:39, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
I'd also like to request a diagonal version of   (vRP2BHF) (i.e.   (vRP2BHF2+4) and   (vRP2BHF3+1)) as well as a vRP2 version of   (RP2s+1) (i.e.   (vRP2s+1)). AlphaBeta135talk 23:44, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
@AlphaBeta135 and Hotdog with ketchup:   (vRP2BHF3+1) is done. Useddenim (talk) 15:10, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
I was not going to say anything about diagonal vRP2 icons since I made do with RP4 icons instead, but now that AlphaBeta135 has mentioned it, I hope nobody minds me adding some diagonal vRP2 requests as well.
Could you please create   (vRP22+n)? along with   (vRP22+4) and corners   (vRP2c1) &   (vRP2c3), and additionally,   (hRP4wns), an elevated version of   (RP4wns). (For the last one, I tried using   (lhABZgr+r) as a placeholder and it is too small. I currently have   (hRP4r) and   (hRP4+r) overlapped.) Thank you again for your help, it is always appreciated! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 05:54, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
@Hotdog with ketchup:   (vRP2c1) and   (vRP2c3) can easily be derived from   (vRP2c4) by subtracting the x and y values respectively from 500. Similarly   (vRP22+4) bears the same relationship to   (vRP23+1) Useddenim (talk) 04:59, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
Well... I got relatively close (and not close) a few times, and tried studying the code for   (vSTR2+4), but no luck tonight. I will keep trying on Thursday. Thanks for trying to walk me through it. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 05:47, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
After three hours of trying to make   (vRP2c2), I almost succeeded in creating   (vRP2c3) instead, but neither angle (road, stripes) was a 45° angle. I still have the closest one, but I decided not to upload it in case there is no way to quickly delete it afterwards.
But to make sure I understand it, 0 marks the top & left of the screen, 500 the bottom & right, and negatives & 500+ are off-screen?
I tried, but figuring out what to add or subtract by 250 or 500, or what to leave alone, is simply bewildering to me. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 14:56, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
Hold that thought. I just received your message. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 15:04, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
@Useddenim: Respectfully, could you please add the curved divided road icons   (vRP22+n);   (vRP2s+1), and the highway median icon   (vRP2BHF3+1) as mentioned above? I tried my hand at mirroring existing icons but could not figure it out, and although I did find some curved VRP2 icons, they were sharper curves that did not get me much progress. (I do not recall their precise names, but they acted like   (vSTR2-) and   (v-STR+4). I was searching for something like   (vSTR2) and   (vSTR+1).)
I apologize if I sound rude or frustrated, as neither of those are my intentions. I just ran out of options after trying the trickery you showed me. It just does not seem to work (to my understanding) when rotating 45°. I am not in a hurry either, but in case you were thinking, "Hdwk can figure this out," I could not. Thank you for your patience and (hopefully) understanding, and sorry if I did sound like a pest. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 00:57, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
(vRP2s+1)   done. And getting the dashes to align & match correctly can be tricky. Useddenim (talk) 04:15, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Much appreciated, s+1 has been added to AlphaBeta's project. I will try to figure the code out for 2+n; I have already inverted the "pavement" but the stripes are indeed something else. It would be quite something if I manage to learn SVG before learning how to format a Word document, but I digress. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 06:12, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
I looked at an online tutorial and I believe the A (arc) value is what needs changing, but I have not figured it out quite yet. And honestly the   (vRP2yRP42) piece I am trying to replace is already at the bottom of a six layer dogpile, so I am almost tempted to leave it because one doesn't notice it is the wrong piece unless they look closely. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 18:17, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
@Hotdog with ketchup: this is how I learned SVG. (And the hint you need is that 0 0 0 has to be changed to 0 0 1 (or vice-versa) in the A command when mirroring.) Useddenim (talk) 21:14, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Once I figured out the basics of how SVG works, I have used the Mozilla SVG Element and Attribute references to help me in making BSicons. VanIsaac (en.wiki) 19:53, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

New RP2 icons

Hello, I am requesting   (tRP2a),   (tRP2e),   (tRP2aq) and   (tRP2eq). It should look like the icons at Category:BSicon/road/RP4/tunnel/portal, except with RP2 instead of RP4. Thanks.

(I know that the tunnel RP2 stub from east and RP2 tunnel portal end would conflict in codes. How this should be resolved? Nijika🥁📐 20:09, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

I just wanted to quickly say that   (tRP2n),   (tRP2s), and   (tRP2w) are probably what you are looking for when it comes to the other three directions (North South West, and you have East already.) Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 21:09, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
What I meant is I want tunnel portal entrances/exits for RP2. They do exist for RP4 but not for RP2, hence my request. Nijika🥁📐 21:23, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
