Akiwumi lives in Amasaman in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. He attended school at Dzodze Secondary School, Akropong Presbyterian Training College and the University of Ghana.

- Teaching has played a significant part of my life.
- I began my carrier with teaching in Mepe Basic School.
- I taught Geography and English Language in Abor Secondary School.
- As an environmentalist working in the Environmental Protection Agency I spend much time in educating people on best practices in environmental management.
