Methano has a BS in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a PhD in organic chemistry from Cornell University. His graduate training was in Natural Products chemistry, primarily in total synthesis. He worked primarily as a medicinal chemist in the pharmaceutical industry (Big Pharma and Biotech) for 25 years, with other experience in analytical chemistry, IT applications and technology development. More recently he finds himself in an academic setting trying some new things with his old talents. He has a bunch of publications and patents and has made the occasional presentation.
