Utpal Datta is a critic, photographer , translator, and filmmaker. He won the National award for film and the state award for film direction. His 'By Lane2' and 'Bohubritta' were screened at Indian Panorama, MIFF, and other international festivals. He was one of the three directors of the anthology film Ji Galpar Ses Nai (Assamese). His latest book 'Film appreciation' (translation from original Assamese) is a pan-Indian hit.
