Fake SVGs edit

I noticed that you've been replacing valid SVG maps with fake ones. This is obviously not acceptable and I would appreciate it if you self-reverted all the maps that you edited. Thanks. M.Bitton (talk) 21:24, 3 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

As you noticed, I did all this without any malicious intent, but only with the desire to correct and supplement some images. I will definitely look into this and fix some incorrectly loaded images. Thanks for the note. Рагин1987 (talk) 10:16, 4 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello again! I reformatted most of my uploaded SVG files correctly, I'll fix the rest tomorrow. --Рагин1987 (talk) 19:47, 4 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

— RASPBERRY VIBE (talk) 21:26, 6 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that you uploaded a file using the name File:2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.svg. A file by this name already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. If the file that you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you. For more information, please see Commons:Overwriting files.

File:Suwałki gap NATO CSTO.svg edit

Hello Рагин1987, I hope you're doing well. I see that you recently expanded the map in the svg I posted above- but in doing so you happened to misplace the red line marking the Suwałki Gap (the purpose of the image) in Belarus. Could you fix this as soon as possible? Thanks Johnson524 (talk) 22:14, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I expanded the map again (now displaying Armenia and Kazakhstan), but now without errors. --Рагин1987 (talk) 09:44, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Georgia/Caucasus/Black Sea edit

What is the point with expanding all maps of EU/Europe to include Georgia/Caucasus/Black Sea? Nablicus (talk) 15:37, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Depending on the context of what you are asking. As a rule, as a demonstration of a more generally accepted definition of Europe in political, economic, and sometimes in historical and cultural criteria.
If we are talking specifically about the EU positioning map template, then the same Georgia is an associated member of the organization, as well as a member of the Eastern Partnership, an associated trio, and the country that applied for the status of a candidate. Therefore, the presence of the border states of North Africa, but the absence of the same Black Sea region of the Caucasus in some maps, I find rather unfair and selective. Рагин1987 (talk) 16:03, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
First of all, Georgia is not an 'associated member' of the EU. There is nothing like an 'associated membership' of the EU. It is an applicant country and it has an association agreement with the EU, but that is something else. In any case, we are talking about maps where this status is not relevant even indicated and thus completely irrelevant. For instance, you replaced this map by this map this map just to include a larger part of the Black Sea and some other regions, which was totally pointless given the purpose of what the map is intended to show, namely the EU countries and Switzerland. North Africa is shown because it happens to be there in the surrounding area included to show the EU countries, just like countries like Norway, Switzerland, Russia etc. happen to be there as well. However, extending the area of map just to excessively include more counrties is completely pointless. --Nablicus (talk) 16:39, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Most of these maps included an expanded definition of Europe, but after Brexit, excluding the UK from the EU, one of the users decided to cut the maps as a whole (I advise you to read the file history). Рагин1987 (talk) 16:45, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the map was improved at the same time as UK was removed as a EU member. I think we should be able to agree on that a map should not extend much larger than is necessary in order to show what it is meant to show. Otherwise we should include the whole globe in each and every map. --Nablicus (talk) 17:00, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
The "after Brexit" is just a poor excuse when you're overwriting maps (en masse) just to show the area that you're interested in. M.Bitton (talk) 17:10, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm specifically talking about location maps of EU. As for the rest, as a rule, we are talking about maps showing the countries of Europe as a whole, but not showing some transcontinental countries, either selectively (including Russia but ignoring Turkey or vice versa), or simply because of the lack of data, which I am already supplementing. Рагин1987 (talk) 17:14, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm specifically talking about a big problem (you overwriting stable maps to introduce your POV). M.Bitton (talk) 17:16, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Depending on what you mean by "problem".
Many edits (where there are no factual errors) are usually of an improving nature, with the aim of giving the files a better appearance (as was the case with the file Different versions of the Europe-Asia border). Рагин1987 (talk) 17:20, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
That's just another poor excuse. Your edits have one thing in common, they all push your political POV. That needs to stop. M.Bitton (talk) 17:23, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
These same edits do not contradict the original information contained in them.
If the file contains a name like "European countries", but the same Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Cyprus are not there, then I add them (if their presence does NOT contradict the information in the file). Рагин1987 (talk) 17:27, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm done wasting my time with you. From now on, any edit of yours that overwrites a map, will be reverted on sight. You are obviously free to upload the files under different names (just like you did for some of them), but I must warn you, you have to respect the copyright of the original uploader (which so far, you haven't), otherwise, you will be reported for copyright violation. M.Bitton (talk) 17:32, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
It seems to me that you are tritely biased towards me.
Why can others and I can't?
Moreover, I often ask authors for permission to add this or that country to the maps. Рагин1987 (talk) 17:34, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Name another editor whose sole purpose is to add their preferred region to stable maps. M.Bitton (talk) 17:38, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I know for sure that such precedents were.
Moreover, you greatly exaggerate the problem, declare some kind of "destruction" of pictures and other things (I figured out editing fake SVG thanks to you, I reformatted most of the files). Рагин1987 (talk) 17:43, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I fully agree with you, M.Bitton. Changing maps just to include a specific region is POV. And it does make the maps look worse since the actual part that they are supposed to illustrate become much smaller. --Nablicus (talk) 18:27, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
HOW does this make the map worse, and worsen their visibility?
This is the same as that it was forbidden to include Egypt (at least in part) in the maps of the Middle East or Western Asia, although it is also geographically and politically located within this region.
I have already been threatened that ANY of my edits will be rolled back by a specific user, so this issue needs to be addressed at a different level. Рагин1987 (talk) 05:40, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

File:FEBA-Europe-members-2015.png edit

Hi

Please, do not substitude the original file File:FEBA-Europe-members-2015.png by your own version. If you disagree with this map, create a new file with your comments.

In WP-fr page : fr:European Food Banks Federation, this map had replaced the previous one (File:FEBA - Europe.png - 2012 version) on July 12, 2015 [1] and stayed in the page until 21 June 21, 2016 (replaced by file:FEBA-Europe-members-2016.png).

Please note that at that times, the maps and the WP-fr page has been rewiewed and validated by FEBA board (send me an email if you want to kwnow more about that, I will provide you the details)

On what grounds? Because of improving the quality of the file?
Or due to the fact that one particular user threatened me that he would indiscriminately and contextually roll back ALL my edits, attributing to them also nationalist motives? Рагин1987 (talk) 06:47, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
