First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

えー、本件に関して…というよりも、画像そのものに付いてお願いがあります。件のコモンズにアップロードされた写真は、付随情報がほとんどなく、結局のところ映像として「変な牛模型」の域を出るものではありません。被写体の性質として「いつ・どこで・誰が・何を目的として・どういう扱いをしていた」ものなのかの説明を付与してください。小生としては依然として件の画像は屠殺の項では「説明的ではないために不要な写真」だと考えておりますが、画像側にきちんとした説明さえあれば、Wikipedia:ja:栃木県#農林業辺りには置きようのある画像だとは思いますので。特筆性の低い器物（有名な彫刻や主要ランドマークではないなど）を写した映像は、主体と成る説明に付帯されてこそ価値を持ちうると考えます。例示のために私家写真を出しますが、例えばfile:Watch stone.jpgは単にその写真だけなら「品質の良くない（精密？）機械内部の写真」でしかありませんが、Wikipedia:ja:ルビーの項でルビーの高い硬度から耐磨耗性を発揮し精密機器の軸受けに使われるという説明に挿入されて、はじめて何がしかの（情報的）価値を生み出します。それだけに「何処の何が写っているのかの説明も十分でない」ものを「関係性の多寡ではなく有無」に基づいて無闇矢鱈に置いたとしても説明的ではありません…件の時計軸受け画像をルビーつながりでWikipedia:ja:ルビーレーザーに置いたとしても、何等役立たないように。--User:Yatobi / 夜飛 13:23, 13 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
