Overwriting files

Hi! I noticed that you uploaded a new version of File:Map.Asuke-Town.Aichi.PNG. Per COM:OW you should not overwrite files with completely different versions. If you think a wiki should show a different map you should edit the wiki page instead. --MGA73 (talk) 20:58, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

When you make new maps please remember to add the source. For example File:Shikatsu in Aichi Prefecure.png looks very much like maps made by ja:User:Lincun. I made {{Japan municipality by Lincun}} that might be usable for you.

I'm currently working on transferring files from Japanese Wikipedia and it include maps in for example ja:Category:Locator maps of municipalities in Japan based on maps by Lincun and ja:Category:Japan map. The files in Category:Locator maps of municipalities in Japan based on maps by Lincun are as complete as I could make it based on the info on Japanese Wikipedia. But if someone made new versions based on the files on Commons I have not been able to locate them in an easy way. So far there are very few files in Category:Japan map but I hope to add more. --MGA73 (talk) 21:18, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

You are very welcome to work on maps and fix stuff. Just upload with a new name if you create a new map and only upload on top if it is a minor change.

I hope that I will finish editing the maps on ja.wiki today so the files can be moved to Commons. It takes 2 seconds to move a file to Commons with FileImporter so I hope it will be much easier from now on to work on the maps. --MGA73 (talk) 12:53, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Categories on your user page

Hello, AichiWikiFixer. I noticed that you have the Japan and Aichi prefecture categories on your user page. Those categories are not for use on user pages, so please remove them. Categories you can use on user pages usually start with "Wikimedians". If you want, you could use Category:Wikimedians of Japan. Japanese maps

Hi! You updated File:Sekigahara in Gifu Prefecture Ja.svg and a few other maps with new colors. The map originally came from ja:ファイル:基礎自治体位置図 21362.svg and it is used in the article ja:関ケ原町. Below the map there is a text explaining the colors of the map. So I guess when you change the colors you need to fix the explaining text too. Do you know how to fix that?

Per ja:利用者‐会話:ネイ#Maps_called_via_template(s) I had a discussion on how to fix the template so we can use different file names on Commons. And as an example you can see ja:Special:Diff/85271881.

I have not figured out how to fix the colors so unless you know how to do that we need both versions of the file. --MGA73 (talk) 13:02, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi! The template is now fixed and the articles are changed so they use the files on Commons and the files from Japanese Wikipedia is now deleted. So now all files should be located on Commons. --MGA73 (talk) 15:14, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
