Hokkaido maps

Hello, Alberth2! Some Hokkaido maps can be made from this image or this image on Japanese Wikipedia. These images have the problem for licencing, so I replace them by files I made. Hi: Indeed, the Hokkaido maps I made is not made from ja:画像:Hokkaido 16c.png, however, there are something similar. Could you please assist to confirm the licence of ja:画像:北海道羅臼町道内位置図.svg? I like this map more, but I can not be sure if the licence is right although it shows GFDL. If it is OK to upload to Wikimedia Commons, I may do it later. --BOW-WOW 00:56, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. I noticed that you copy files like this to Commons.

Files should be moved with FileImporter to make sure that file history is preserved and that the correct license is transferred to Commons. The file on ja.wiki is licensed {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-3.0}} and you only added {{cc-by-sa-3.0}}.

I know that the file on ja.wiki uses a special template that makes it hard to copy the files to Commons. But I can convert the files to use {{Information}} and then it is easy to move to Commons. See {{Japan prefecture by Lincun}} and Category:Locator maps of municipalities in Japan based on maps by Lincun as an example.

So if you give me a few days I can fix the files.

Another thing: The filenames on ja.wiki is used in a template. So if you rename the files during transfer you make it harder to use the files for ja.wiki. --MGA73 (talk) 19:55, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

I have tested with one file: File:Demography01203.svg.
