You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.

Hej BKP, Du har lagt Verzasca-dæmningen.JPG op på Commons. Jeg undrer mig dog over, at du har dateret den til 1. januar 1980, når den reklamerer for det verdensberømte bungy jump fra filmen GoldenEye - en film, hvor optagelserne først startede 15 år senere... Hej Heb.

Hvilken befrielse pludselig at blive kontaktet på sit modersmål, det er ikke så ofte her i "Wikimedia Commons-Verdenen". Kan du ikke prøve at forklare mig (der ikke er specielt overbegavet), hvorledes jeg sætter en Kategori på når jeg oplader billeder via den ellers udmærkede "Vejviser", - på forhånd tak!

Og så til din skarpe iagttagelse omkring mit billede af Verzasca-dæmningen. Jeg aner ikke, hvad der er sket. Billedet er taget den 29. juni 2009, men hvorfor den laver om på datoen må guderne vide. Men hvis du scroller helt ned på omtalte fil kan du under Metadata se, at samme (forkerte) dato ligger der. Det kan tyde på, at fejlen er opstået på et tidligere tidspunkt - måske i kameraet - men at jeg ikke har været opmærksom på den før.

Hej BKP,

Vi er faktisk en håndfuld der snakker dansk her på Commons, men ellers har du ret - det er et engelsk-tungt sted. Og det bærer hele kategoriseringen af billederne også præg af. I udgangspunktet burde størstedelen af de menuer o.l. du ser på Commons dog være på dansk. Hvis den ikke er, så vælg preferences i menuen øverst til højre, gå ned til sektionen 'Internationalisation' og vælg da - dansk og tryk på Save i bunden:

Med hensyn til kategorierne kan det være en smule bøvlet, da det kræver man kender navnet på kategorien. Men under upload vil du komme til en side, hvor du kan vælge Tilføj kategorier eller yderligere oplysninger.... Her skal du trykke på den lille pil til venstre; så vil den pege nedaf og ikke mod højre og du vil få flere felter frem:

For hver gang du vil tilføje en kategori mere, trykker du blot på Tilføj under den sidste kategori-boks, så kommer der en boks mere frem og der bliver plads til endnu en kategori.

Alternativt kan du bruge fane-bladet find categories i toppen, så kommer du til en webside der kan hjælpe dig med det, men igen er den på engelsk. Jeg vil anbefale dig at surfe lidt rundt på Commons og finde billeder der ligner de billeder du vil kategorisere, og så blot indsætte de samme kategorier. Hej igen Heb,

Tak for en fin instruktion, - med de evner burde du være i søværnet, her kan vi altid bruge dygtige folk!!

Jeg var efterhånden af egen drift nået frem til stort set de samme værktøjer mht at kategorisere, hvilket jeg stadig finder umanerligt bøvlet og akavet. Jeg savner en alfabetisk listning af kategorierne med en ordentlig søgefunktion a la den der er i Wikipedia. Men bevares; det kan da la' sig gøre endda.

En lille opfordring vedr. navngivning af filer edit

Hej BKP, Først vil jeg gerne give den en tommelfinger op ad for at lægge alle de mange fine billeder op på Commons; det er super godt og du er blevet ret god til det med kategorierne også :) Jeg har dog bemærket, at en del af dine filer har et navn der starter med hvad der umiddelbart ligner en dato. Det er fint at have datoen med, men da det kun er de første 20 tegn i fil-navnet der bliver vist i gallerierne, vil det oftest være mere praktisk at have datoen til sidst, så jeg vil gerne opfordre dig til at placere datoen der fremover. Det er dog ikke nogen "kriminel" handling at have datoen først (du kan se Commons fil-navngivnings politik på engelsk her), men det anbefales at bruge de første 20 tegn på noget vigtigt. Jeg skal se, om jeg kan lægge min (u)vane fra mig mht at datere filerne, det er ikke min egen ide, jeg har set andre gøre tilsvarende og syntes faktisk det var rart at kunne se dateringen fra start. Men jeg kan sagtens følge dine argumenter, og vil ha' det i baghovedet fremtidigt.

P.S. Jeg bærer ikke længere min uniform, idet jeg nåede pensionsalderen for snart et år siden. Det kan anbefales, selv om indtjeningen falder lidt ved samme lejlighed. Mange hilsner Bjarne/BKP (talk) 10:55, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hej Bjarne, Endnu en lille opfordring: Når nu du lægger filer op lige p.t. så bruger du Læg en fil op-linket fra den danske Wikipedia. Det har den konsekvens, at filen bliver anbragt i kategorien Uploaded from da-wiki, med henblik på en kontrol af en dansk-talende administrator på Commons (dette var et krav, da vi implementerede funktionen, der gør at filer ryger direkte på Commons). Men eftersom du jo udviser eksemplarisk adfærd, når du lægger filer op, er det strengt taget ikke nødvendigt, at vi kontrollerer alle dine uploads - f.eks. har jeg lige kontrolleret 159 af dine fil-uploads og det er jo alle eksempler på uploads for engelebørn :) Jeg vil derfor gerne opfordre dig til at bruge Læg en fil op-linket på Commons i stedet (der er stort set ingen forskel på dem, set fra din side), så vi ikke skal kontrollere alle dine fine billeder :) Med venlig hilsen, Henrik/heb [T C E] 08:46, 7 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hej Henrik. Jeg har et par gange brugt linket på Commons, men har ikke været opmærksom på differencen. Men jeg skal gerne bruge dette link fremtidigt. I øvrigt vil jeg gerne rose den, som har "fundet på" denne guidede tur gennem uploadningens trange stier, for det gør det dejligt nemt for os almindeligt dødelige at bruge systemet.
