Wiki Loves Folklore edit

Hi, we are validating the releases for some of the entries for Wiki Loves Folklore, so I hope you can clarify the release of these two recordings. Were these your personal recordings or are they released in a separate archive? The second file has distinct sound which seems to be an arranged recording rather than a live folk art performance, could you add some extra detail to the description for the file?

Thanks! (talk) 10:55, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello from Balone21 . My apologies for not knowing the correct format for how to answer your question above...if my response needs to be given in a different way, please do let me know. I am still somewhat new to Wikipedia's formatting, etc. In short: yes, these recordings were both made personally by me and some (professional musician) friends, with the permission of the lyricist Ambika Prasad (who is heard singing) and the musicians present. They were recorded live, and then mixed on Audacity (free music mixing software). I have placed these, along with the other songs recorded in the same session, in public distribution category in the "Archives and Research Center for Ethnomusicology" at the American Institute of Indian Studies in New Delhi, India, as the lyricist and musicians are all completely fine with these being Public Domain, "as Folk Tunes do not belong to anybody." --Balone21 (talk) 13:54, 14 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

During the WikiLovesFolklore competition a while back, I submitted these, with the appropriate certifications at the time. All are my own photos, and I do release them for public usage. As such, I am filling out that form right now as requested. -Dr. Michael T Balonek 172.101.184.134 20:56, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
