Calanthe x hizen edit

....do you have taxonomic informations? Cultivar or natural hybrid? Orchi (talk) 20:16, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello Orchi,
Calanthe x hizen is a natural hybrid (Calanthe discolor x Calanthe aristulifera) found in Kagoshima prefecture in Japan. The names of Calanthe x hizen or Calanthe x hizenebine are common names in Japan and have been officially unplaced until now.
As cultivar hybrid, Calanthe Hizen I.Ito 1996 has been registered by RHS.

Hello BeautifulMedia,
thank you for your information.
My proposal: at the moment we put your wonderful pictures of Calanthe x hizen to the Calanthe - cultivars.
After a scientific description as Nothospecies: Calanthe x hizen we create a new article.
Greetings. Orchi (talk) 18:21, 21 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your confirmation.
I agree that the pictures of Calanthe x hizen are put to the Calanthe - cultivars.
thanks again. --BeautifulMedia (talk) 00:59, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Pictures on Flickr.: [Izu Islands, Japan / 伊豆諸島] Platanthera mandarinorum Rchb.f., Linnaea 25: 226 (1852) edit

Hello BeautifulMedia,
one question about your last pictures from Platanthera on Flickr.
You write in the first line:
as:
Platanthera mandarinorum subsp. hachijoensis (Honda) Murata, Acta Phytotax. Geobot. 22: 66 (1966)
or
Platanthera mandarinorum var. hachijoensis (Honda) Ohwi, Bull. Natl. Sci. Mus. Tokyo 33: 69 (1953)

KEW says for these names: Synonyms of Platanthera hachijoensis Honda, Bot. Mag. (Tokyo) 49: 2 (1935).
Shall we take your pictures here as Platanthera hachijoensis or Platanthera mandarinorum ?
Best greetings. Orchi (talk) 18:54, 15 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello Orchi,
I checked the latest nomenclature status of the species.
This Japanese plant "Hachijo chidori - ハチジョウチドリ" should be Platanthera hachijoensis.
I have fixed the title and description of those photos on Flickr.

Technical problems edit

@BeautifulMedia: Hello BeautifulMedia,
thanks for the uploading of your newest photos. Unfortunately it is currently not possible, to take pictures from Flickr to Commons.
There are some technical difficulties. I hope, these problems are corrected again soon. Orchi (talk) 16:35, 15 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Orchi: Hello Orchi,
Yes. I have also found that Flickr-to-Commons has not been working for these weeks. The problem has been raised as an issue on the bug tracking system (https://bitbucket.org/magnusmanske/flickr2commons/issues?status=new&status=open). However, it seems that Flickr-to-Commons has not been no longer maintained. BeautifulMedia (talk) 17:25, 15 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@BeautifulMedia: Hello BeautifulMedia,
....since yesterday "Flickr to Commons" is in function again. Orchi (talk) 18:32, 18 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Greetings and thanks edit

@BeautifulMedia:
Hello BeautifulMedia, thanks for uploadings of your newest perfect pictures here.
Unfortunately, the tool to get the pictures from Flickr to Commons is not in function since many days.
Regards. Orchi (talk) 13:46, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Orchi: Hello Orchi,
Thanks for the greeting. The author of the tool has tweeted a comment https://twitter.com/MagnusManske/status/1241758466966007809
The replies to the tweet from Flickr have been meaningless, so the issue may not be fixed forever.

@BeautifulMedia:
Hello BeautifulMedia, ... that's not good news.
Until today I have lived without Twitter and Facebook
I will continue to be happy about every picture you make available to Wikipedia. Orchi (talk) 18:33, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please be more careful with the Computer Aided Tagging edit

Hi! I have noticed that you have been adding a lot of Commons:Computer-aided tagging. Please be more careful and specific about what you add to the images. The Commons:Depicts statements are supposed to be precise and only focus on what you can see in the image. Sadads (talk) 00:26, 7 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrol given edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Thanks for your valuable uploads! Best, Achim (talk) 19:14, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

We need your feedback! edit

Hello. Apologies if this message is not in your native language: please feel free to respond in the language of your choice. Thank you!

I am writing to you because we are looking for feedback for a new Wikimedia Foundation project, Structured Data Across Wikimedia (SDAW). SDAW is a grant-funded programme that will explore ways to structure content on wikitext pages in a way that will be machine-recognizable and -relatable, in order to make reading, editing, and searching easier and more accessible across projects and on the Internet. We are now focusing on designing and building image suggestion features for experienced users.

We have some questions to ask you about your experience with uploading images here on Wikimedia Commons and then adding them to Wikipedia. You can answer these questions on a specific feedback page on Mediawiki, where we will gather feedback. As I said, these questions are in English, but your answers do not need to be in English! You can also answer in your own language, if you feel more comfortable.

Once the collecting of feedback will be over, we will sum it up and share with you a summary, along with updated mocks that will incorporate your inputs.

Also, if you want to keep in touch with us or you want to know more about the project, you can subscribe to our newsletter.

Hope to hear from you soon! -- Sannita (WMF) (talk to me!) 09:56, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dendrochilum kingii edit

@BeautifulMedia:
Hello BeautifulMedia,
I just saw your articles about Dendrochilum kingii. What do you think about the change of KEW: [1]?
Best greetings. Orchi (talk) 17:16, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Orchi:
Hello Orchi,
I have just asked Kew's compiler about the record of Dendrochilum kingii on WCSP. They are just in the process of moving genus Bracisepalum, Bulleyia, Chelonistele, Dendrochilum, Dickasonia, Entomophobia, Geesinkorchis, Gynoglottis, Ischnogyne, Nabaluia, Neogyna, Otochilus, Panisea and Pholidota to genus Coelogyne.
This action seems to be based on the following paper.
https://www.biotaxa.org/Phytotaxa/article/view/phytotaxa.510.2.1
I believe we should defer to the decision of Kew's compiler. BeautifulMedia (talk) 23:09, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@BeautifulMedia:
Hello BeautifulMedia,
I agree with you. I think new images with new articles should be set up according to the new taxonomy.
Renaming the articles is a very time-consuming work.
At the moment I'm making the suggestion for the names of the old taxonomy as here as a test sample test Orchi (talk) 18:24, 9 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
