Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Bateau d'intérêt patrimonial edit

Bonjour. Je viens de voir que tu as créé cette catégorie : Category:Bateau d'intérêt patrimonial. Si tu y mets une des photos d'un des bateaux, ce n'est pas correct : c'est la catégorie du bateau (si elle existe) qu'il faut catégoriser comme Bateau d'intérêt patrimonial. Par contre si tu veux faire une galerie de photos, le mieux c'est de créer une page Bateau d'intérêt patrimonial que mettras dans la catégorie. --Barbetorte (talk) 09:37, 9 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bien ! En fait, le mieux pour une image de bateau qui n'a pas de catégorie, c'est d'en créer une dans le style category:Nombateau (ship, année de construction) après avoir vérifié qu'une catégorie n'existe pas déjà. Comme ça c'est fait pour l'avenir, au cas où qqun téléchargerait un autre image. Bon courage. --Barbetorte (talk) 10:26, 9 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Abri du marin edit

Bonjour Jacques,

Me permets-tu le tutoiement ? J'ai vu ton ajout de Category:Monuments historiques in Finistère (houses) dans Category:Abri du marin. Je doute que ce soit opportun, dans la mesure où tous les abris du marin ne sont pas situés dans le Finistère ; il y a en aussi dans le Morbihan. Qu'en penses-tu ? Bonjour Ludo. En bon finistérien, je n'ai vu que le Finistère ! Hé bien, si il y a des photos d'abris sur Commons pour le Morbihan, il sera possible de renommer ma catégorie d'abris en "abris du marins du Finistère", d'en créer une autre du même type pour le Morbihan et de les coiffer toutes les deux par une catégorie générale "abris du marin". est-ce que çà te conviendrait? Je me suis permis d'aller voir un peu tes contributions. Il semble que tu sois jeune arrivé sur Commons et Wikipédia. N'hésite pas à me solliciter si tu as besoin d'aide ou de renseignement. Je connais plutôt bien le monde maritime. Je suis originaire du même département que toi. J'ai aussi eu l'occasion de naviguer sur une yole morbihan lors des fêtes de Douarnenez en 2000 et 2002. J'ai fait la correction : Abri du Marin, avec des catégories de Bretagne, regroupe désormais une catégorie pour le Finistère et attend une catégorie Morbihan pour des photos à venir. Oui, je suis un petit nouveau qui tente d'apporter son tout petit cailloux à l'édifice !
