Unfortunately, you still need a licence from the author of the sculpture to be allowed to publish a photo of it. --Wikipeder 09:59, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

The model was made by fans and donated to Football Museum afterward, the fair is jointly presented with the National Football Museum, the model is the only exhibit allows to take photo.File:BeckhamFootModel Sign.jpg--Chong Fat 13:43, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

That doesn't make a difference. If the authors did not explicitly donate their copyright as well, theiy still own it. If they did in fact donate their copyright, then you need a licence from the present copyright holder.

I'm not trying to bug you or something. The point is that the Commons' user must be save that they are free to use the images for whatever purpose (in the limits of the GFDL). If there is a copyright holder who has a right to decide on each and every use of the image and sue anybody who does not use it as he likes (like here, apparantly), this is not possible. In fact, basically you might get in trouble and be held liable, because you effectively tell the world the image could be freely used. --Wikipeder 15:37, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hong Kong Red Cross former head office?

Hi! In regards to File:HK HKRedCrossHQ Admiralty.JPG the Chinese address at http://web.archive.org/web/20000919174518/http://www.redcross.org.hk/index.html stated it's in Wan Chai, and https://www.eac.hk/pdf/distco/2019dc/final/dc2019b.pdf shows that maybe the building is barely in Wan Chai?
