Welcome to Wikimedia Commons, Craigthornber!

Hello Craig. Welcome to Wikipedia. I have long been an admirer of your excellent photographs, and in a number of my articles I have added links to the your web pages containing them. So I am delighted that you are adding your photographs to Wikipedia (WP), so that they can be enjoyed by more people, and used freely without copyright limitations. I was pleased see the photos you downloaded to Commons and copied into the article on St Helen's Church, Sefton. But I have taken the liberty of adjusting them somewhat in the article, because WP is not keen on multiple images in an article, and would prefer them to be distributed, as appropriately as possible, throughout the article. You can read about this at WP:IG. So what I have done is to add the category of the church to the photos on Commons, and add a link to them (and others) to the article (the Commonscat link). This has allowed me to distribute some of the photos and delete the others. Nothing has been lost because the absent ones are available through the link. (I have copied this message to Wikipedia, because I am not sure where you are more likely to see it.) Best wishes, --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 13:00, 1 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

Hi Craigthornber, there is something you need to know: Commons:Categories. Greetings, -- Ies (talk) 15:38, 2 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please don't over-categorize your images (like in File:2012 07 24 Whalley Abbey 07.jpg) as explained in Commons:Categories. -- Ies (talk) 15:43, 2 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
