Argyll Coat of Arms edit

This is most probably a funny coincidence, but the Argyll coat of arms resembles the symbols of the capital-city of Lisbon, Portugal. See below. Cheers! The Ogre (talk) 13:35, 5 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

File:Earl of Rothes arms.svg edit

You have made an error here, the tincture of the bend should be Azure (blue) not gules (red) as you have illustrated and blazoned. Per Debrett's Peerage, 1968. I would change it myself but am not competent on inkscape. Can you change it please? Thanks, (Lobsterthermidor (talk) 21:57, 17 June 2012 (UTC))Reply

Category:Tadpoles_in_heraldry edit

Tadpoles in heraldry has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Earl of Mar and Kellie Arms edit

I thought I got them from cracofts peerage online, but I checked and listed the same arms you have. Perhaps they updated and corrected their mistake (the site has had other flaws). Tinynanorobots (talk) 09:06, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello. This image and the one above have been deleted because you didn't grant any free licences for them. As far as I remember you only provided a description of the arms, but not any information about the intended copyright status of your work. Please note also that I didn't delete them and can't undelete them, too, because I'm not an administrator on Commons. Please ask Fastily or JuTa who performed the deletions. De728631 (talk) 15:22, 18 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I rececked the history. There never was a license within the description pages. Only a {{Insignia}} was included at the permission field. Feel free to repuoad the files, but ensure to apply a license. {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded, but there are a lot of more possibilities. regards. --JuTa 07:12, 19 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
What JuTa said. The {{Insignia}} template itself is not a copyright statement but a sort of disclaimer explaining why arms can freely be drawn by anyone. The specific design is however copyrighted to the artist. That's why I tagged the images (see my signature in the templated messages above). Arms Rose of Kilravock edit

I think you are doing a great job and love the work. I'm new to the site and will sign up to help with the heraldry work. But I was doing some research on the battle of Harlaw where a Rose of Kilravock is stated to have been with the Provost Davidson and was looking for the armorial. You are the one that did the work being used on the site. The armorial is also recorded in the genealogical history of the family and you have correctly stated it to be "Or, a boar's head couped Gules, between three water bougets Sable" but have the boars head erased in the render not couped. If you are interested the Lord Lyon records the crest: "above the shield, on a helmet befitting his rank, mantled gules, doubled argent; next is placed on a wreath of his colour, for his crest, one harp azure". This is rendered into the clan crest on wikipedia. Hope this helps. Family locator (talk) 06:55, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Arms of Lord Sempill edit

Just to let you know, you've made a mistake in your rendition of the arms of Lord Sempill: the Forbes quartering is no longer used by the family. The quartering along with the surname "Forbes-Sempill" was adopted in the 1880s when Sir William Forbes, Baronet inherited the lordship of Sempill from his cousin. However the titles were split on the death of William, Lord Sempill in 1965: the lordship, which descended through heirs general, went to his daughter Ann, whereas the baronetcy, which descended through heirs male, went to his brother Ewan. Since the family were no longer holders of the Forbes baronetcy they dropped the Forbes quartering in their arms, and used Sempill alone.Zacwill16 (talk) 11:15, 30 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Arms of Captain of Clan Chattan edit

Hi, you have a spelling error in the name of the page with the arms of Clan Chattan. "File:Captain of Clan Chatten arms.svg" - should read: File:Captain of Clan Chattan arms.svg (i.e. no 'E'). Is it possible for you to correct this? --Chattan1 (talk) 10:22, 11 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Arms of Chief of Clan Cameron edit

Hi, thanks for your work on an exquisite coa. One suggestion is that you might consider including insignia of a Knight of the Thistle. Cameron chiefs are KT and CVO. Thanks, Fitzkarl (talk) 18:44, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Arms of Earl of Seafield edit

Hello my friend, I was wondering if you would consider making Earl of Seafield coat of arms. Thanks, Fitzkarl (talk) 00:14, 19 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, @Fitzkarl, I could consider this, but i do not have as much time as I had before. Will see, may take time. Yours ever, Czar Brodie~commonswiki (talk) 22:30, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Czar Brodie~commonswiki, I appreciate that and that you have already made the Clan Grant coa (i.e. Baron Strathspey). But for a long time Clan Grant was headed by Earls of Seafield (which arms combines Grant and Ogilvy heraldry). Thanks for your work as always, Fitzkarl (talk) 10:47, 1 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry about it, although one genuine thing you might consider is coa for Mackintosh / Clan Chattan who do not have a full coa :) Fitzkarl (talk) 18:31, 1 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
