You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Thank you for your submission of File:GKW II THW Alsfeld.JPG. While all submissions are useful, do you think you might be able to supply a better quality version of the same, or similar, content? In many cases, the largest and highest resolution possible is the most useful version to have available. (MediaWiki has automatic resizing functionality, so there is no need for multiple versions of the same image at different sizes, users can select any size and the software will generate and cache the needed resolution on the fly.)

If you can supply the same exact image as File:GKW II THW Alsfeld.JPG at a larger resolution (or media at a higher bitrate, etc.), please just upload it over the original, users will get the new higher quality version with no further effort on your part. If on the other hand, the content is only similar, it is best to select a new image name, as there may be uses already where some aspect of the existing media was key to the usage. In the latter case, if you can provide a crosslink reference to the new image in the older one and vice versa, that will be extremely helpful.

Hello David alsfeld,

I noticed you've uploaded multiple images that differ only in size, and I thought I should draw your attention to a certain feature of our software. MediaWiki, the software which drives Commons and other projects like Wikipedia, is able to handle reducing the size of the images automatically. For example, even though File:Red Apple.jpg is a very large picture (2418 × 2192 pixel), MediaWiki can automatically generate thumbnails in all sizes (example: 50-pixel thumbnail).

You can include a resized thumbnail of any image in a Wikipedia article using [[File:Red Apple.jpg|thumb|Description here]]

For a narrower image – those in upright or portrait aspect ratio  – use [[File:Red Apple.jpg|thumb|upright|Description here]]

Thanks to this feature, you only need to upload the highest-resolution image you have available. That's why File:THW Lbw Alsfeld.JPG will be deleted soon, while your larger image will remain available for use and resizing.
