Wikipedia "W" edit
Hey, I recently noticed that the Wikipedia "W" icon (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia%27s_W.svg) does not match the "W" used in the WikipediA wordmark (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia_wordmark.svg). Interestingly it looks like prior to 9 November 2007 the "W" icon did match, but then it got updated to the Hoefler "W". I imagine you are already aware of this, and that it was intentional. I am trying to understand the history behind this. It seems like it would make sense for the "W" icon to match the "W" in WikipediA, but I want to understand the history before making a suggestion. Thanks for any information you can provide! AHollender (WMF) (talk) 16:35, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- I have no other information for you. You will need to talk to the people who originally chose the font for the logo, of whom I do not know. —Down10 (talk) 01:33, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
