Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

I do not know if I am supposed to write here!? But thank you for the kind comments. The editors removed my images from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Lothian_Archaeological_Trust#External_links, including the near infra-red one, not appreciating its significance. Writing here is just fine. Looking through the history of the article, the links removed were to the webpages of some members. There are still eight links at the bottom of the article (and some excellent photos along the right hand side). What I've done is added a link from that article to a new category on Wikimedia Commons where readers can see all the photographs related to West Lothian Archaeological Trust that have been uploaded here. I was thinking about trying to get this photo of yours recognised as a Featured Picture on Wikipedia, would you be ok with that? I've not been through the process before myself, but it recognises images which are particularly valuable to the encyclopaedia and are of high quality. The criteria against which pictures are measured can be found here, and I think the aerial photograph of Blackness Castle ticks all the boxes. It's not guaranteed that it will pass of course, but I think it would be worth a try. Nev1 (talk) 18:29, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

I thought I'd let you know that the photo of Blackness Castle is now a Featured Picture, and currently adorns one of the pages of The Signpost, Wikipedia's internal newsletter. Moreover, the photo is now used on Wikipedias in other language to illustrate the articles on Blackness Castle in French, Dutch, German, Portuguese, and Russian. The German article was actually created in June. I've not talked to the person who put it together, but I suspect it may be because the picture helped raise the profile of the article. Now in several different languages, your photo is being used to encourage readers to learn more about Blackness Castle. And I think it does a damn good job.

And it turns out the photo is a Featured Picture candidate on Commons as well. The criteria on Commons differ to those on Wikipedia, so we'll see how that goes. Nev1 (talk) 18:26, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
