Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

the photo was taken at 1890. if the creator lived even 50 years later, it's sill over 70 years since hid death.

a clarification: this is a family photo. the man in the photo is my grand-grand-dad, gustav ermann. he was a soldier at the end of the 19th century at the german kaiser's army, wilhelm the 2nd. he survived the holocaust. 2 of his 3 sons were murdered in auschwitz. he passed away at ca. 1956 in jerusalem.

as i said, the photo is in our family albums and it survived the holocaust because it was sent to trieste in italy at 1939 when my geandpa and grandma escaped germany. they sent the albums to trieste and the albums were there until they survived the holocaust, running for their lives thru belgium, france and finally switzerland, where, in a sort of a refugee camp for jews, my mother was born.

then, in 1949, they (with the 75 years old gustav ermann) took the albums from trieste and immegrated to israel. that's how the photo survived the nazis and got to israel.

i have no idea who took the photo in saarbrucken in ca. 1890, 125 years ago. if my description here is not enough you can delete it. i thought copyrights are null after 70 years. now i see that 125 years is not enough. ok. i don't argue with the law that forbids uploading a 125 years old photo that no one knows who created it and whose creator is dead for at least 80 years. a law is a law.

This is a family document. It is a certificate given by the managers of the Klosova (Klesow) Jewish pioneers working camp (Hachshara Chalutzit) to my grandfather in 1925. Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on 1 May 2023, 23:59:59 UTC.
