Cropping edit
Hello, I see you did a fine job on Image:Antoin Sevruguin Naseraldinshah.jpg. Can I ask you to fix Image:Sunnyside Boardwalk Toronto 1931.jpg ? It has some ugly black borders and needs just a little rotating, and I am not an expert in this area... —the preceding unsigned comment was added by Erik Baas (talk • contribs)
- Thank you, yes I'll work on it. :) Although, my cropping tool seems to have a short curcuit right now, as if it has a mind of its own, but I'm trying to fix that at this moment. GeeAlice 22:40, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Please note the uploader opposes this crop, and has editwarred with Erik Bass over the addition of the crop template. -Nard 22:48, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- N0, he does not; he is afraid that the white border is going to be removed also, and I have not been able to convince him that there are experts here who know what to do. He even suggested I'd do it myself ! - Erik Baas 22:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- See here: "if you are concerned with the black space, remove it". - Erik Baas 22:54, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Done, if he doesn't like it, it can be easily reverted. GeeAlice 05:13, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's perfect, thank you ! :-) - Erik Baas 12:55, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Flying Gurnard edit
Hi GeeAlice. Yes, I speak a little english (I Will update my page with this information). I've made an adjustment in the description of the image of the flying gurnard. All the names that appear in portuguese are regional variations derived of indigenous languages. I cannot translate any of them to english. In my edition I've added this information to the summary. I hope this is helpful. cralize 16:30, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you edit
Hi GeeAlice, sorry for my poor english. I would like to thank you for your vote on my picture image:chardo.jpg, and for your advices.
What do you think about this one : Image:Chardonneret.jpg Monster1000 09:58, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- I like it, but the face is too dark, (not enough contrast from the face and the background just beyond its head). There is purple fraying next to the branches also, and a bit grainy. It's a nice picture, but not featured quality. Not in my opinion anyway. The other one had beautiful clarity and sharpness, but borderline on compositon. This one is better in composition, but borderline in clarity and sharpness. Then again, I'm not an expert. :) GeeAlice 04:24, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 13:47, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Attribution for image edit
Dear GeeAlice,
I would like to use your image of the "Feral cat" available at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File%3AFeral_cat_Virginia_crop.jpg , in an extension-outreach publication related to pests in community environments. This publication is purely for educational purposes and has no commercial interests whatsoever.
However, the suggested attribution format, "w:User:Stavrolo [GFDL (www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html) or CC-BY-3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0)], via Wikimedia Commons", is very different from the style I will be following for other pictures in my publication, which will most likely be much shorter and in the format:
"Photo by Abc Defghijk", or "Photo by Abc Defghijk, Lmnopqr.org".
Therefore for the sake of consistency, kindly let me know whether I may cite the images in the above formats, and if so, what name/affiliation should I use.
Thank you! Sincerely, Shaku
